The Jasper is a 12 story multi-use building developed and managed by The Beach Company.

The building is composed of two towers: a residential and an office tower with the ground floor reserved for lobbies and retail. Adjoining the towers is a rooftop deck.

An elevated pool allows sunbathers to enjoy the harbor scene without the parapet blocking their line of sight.

The entry sequence prioritizes drivers and pedestrians equally. A roundabout dropoff was incorporated for seamless ridesharing use and permeable paving minimizes stormwater impacts.

The landscape is typical of Charleston gardens: bluestone, handmade bricks, granite curbs, and plantation mix make up the hardscape palette. The masonry walls topped with steel fencing include sword detailing in the piers, paying respect to Sergeant Jasper.

Plantings consist of formal hedges and symmetrical beds with playful arrangements. In the back, a plantation mix path weaves through swale gardens that filter and reduce stormwater.

Connection with the public realm is an important element of this project. The design shares 3 pedestrian connections with Moultrie Playground, 2 with Broad Street, and 4 with Barre Street.

As a DesignWorks employee, I participated in the design, construction documentation, and construction administration for this project.
